Laamu Gan Police find two plastic cans filled with locally-brewed alcohol

Police in Laamu atoll Gan discovered two 20-litre plastic cans filled with what is suspected to be locally-brewed alcohol.

According to the website of the Maldives Police Service, the two cans had been discovered by Police officers who had been patrolling the island after they received information that some people were trying incite violence in various areas of the island. In addition to the two cans, the Police officers also found several weapons that had been hidden in the area.

Police said that although all the weapons and the two cans were confiscated by the Police, they had not arrested anyone in connection to the incident yet.

The Police website said that the Serious and Organized Crimes Unit of the Police, and the Drug Enforcement Unit were collaborating in the investigation.
